What Hootly is
Hootly is a study platform with flashcards, quizzes, shared notes, logic puzzles, a community, an AI study companion and self-reflection tools such as mood check-ins, habits, a journal and questionnaires.
The wellbeing and AI features are for education and self-reflection only. Hootly isn't a medical, psychological or therapeutic service and doesn't replace professional care. AI answers can be wrong, so check anything important.
Your account and age limits
- You can register from age 16. If you're younger, you need the prior consent of a parent or legal guardian.
- Paid services are for adults with full legal capacity. If you are under 18, you can only pay with the explicit permission of your legal guardian and with their card.
- Give true details, keep your password safe, and have only one account.
Credits and plans
Current prices, packs and credit costs are on the Pricing page. Prices are in Hungarian forints. The operator is exempt from VAT as a small taxpayer (AAM), so prices contain 0% VAT.
Payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- Monthly plans renew every month and yearly plans every year, and the fee is charged automatically to your card.
- A yearly plan gives you the credits for the whole year when it starts or renews.
- You can cancel at any time on the Pricing page. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for, and there's no refund for the unused part.
- Credits can't be exchanged for cash or moved to another account.
- Decks you unlock stay available to you after your credits or plan run out.
Right of withdrawal
Credits and plans are digital content that isn't supplied on a physical medium. Before paying, you ask us to start delivery immediately by ticking a box, and you acknowledge that you lose your 14-day right of withdrawal once delivery starts, under section 29(1)(m) of Government Decree 45/2014 (II. 26.).
Community rules and moderation
Treat others with respect. We can remove content, and suspend or close accounts, without prior notice if someone:
- harasses, insults or threatens others,
- uploads inappropriate, hateful or pornographic content,
- abuses the service, for example through spam or by obtaining credits illegitimately.
If your account is closed or you delete it, you lose your remaining credits and have no claim to compensation or a refund, except where the law requires otherwise.
Your content and ours
You keep the rights to what you upload. By sharing it, you give us a free, non-exclusive permission to show it on Hootly. Only upload what you have the right to share.
Hootly's design and structure belong to the operator. Use content from Hootly for your own non-commercial studying only, and don't copy or redistribute it in bulk.
Limits of liability
We work to keep Hootly available but can't promise uninterrupted service. Except for intentional damage or breaches that harm life, physical integrity or health, we aren't liable for indirect damages, lost profits or data loss, or for your grades and exam results.
Complaints and disputes
Send complaints in writing to the email address above. We'll investigate and reply in writing within 30 days.
In a consumer dispute you can turn to the conciliation board of your place of residence. The board for the operator's registered seat is listed below.
- Budapesti Békéltető Testület, 1016 Budapest, Krisztina krt. 99., bekelteto.testulet@bkik.hu
If conciliation fails, the competent Hungarian court has jurisdiction.
Changes
We can change these terms, and we'll tell you on Hootly. If you keep using Hootly after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms.
